I am an Anglican priest in Australia, and my ministry is that of school Chaplain and head of Spiritual Development for Prep to 12. In August I am leading a discussion forum at the Australian Anglican Schools Network Conference and although I have done a lot of prep, I would greatly appreciate any clues you you give me re dealing with the counter arguments from the participants. My abstract claims that young people are open to the good news of Jesus Christ, but reject the dominant 'sin/salvation'reading of scripture, the trad apologetics that support it & the god it creates. We need to work with our students to find new readings that convince them that God truly loves all uncond, gives gift of choice w/o punishment for wrong one, & offers a life enhancing relationship regardless of our beliefs & church attendance. In all, 'Gen Y'is demanding a new Reformation! I realise I am asking a lot, but any help you can give with all the 'buts' I will receive, would be wonderful.
Many blessings for you and your ministry. But, in...

Hello,
I'm glad you're doing what you are. But, in defining your view as "not this" I would say you should be careful in saying "one does not sin." Perhaps "sin" has too many kooky connotations these days and we should say instead, "all humans make mistakes." The trick is to learn from them, eh? And Jesus (what he actually said) said if we are truly fully repentent and we practice a new way every day, we may be completely forgiven.

So, my only qualm with your view is that because it is pantheistic and rather beyond duality of human experience, it may be a touch too relativistic. You may want to account for the fact that on this physical plane of existence with time ticking by, humans do make moral mistakes. Not to be judged or condemned as "sinners" or "infidels," but as empathetic growing pains.

Good luck and God bless,
Amy

I am not sure what to think of your work.
